The British Oncological Association was founded in 1985 by Professor Michael Peckham to provide a multidisciplinary forum for the presentation of science work in the field of cancer research.
To facilitate its application to the charity commissioners for charitable status; the Association registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee on 9th March 1993. The association is exempt from using the word "limited" in its name.
Aims
The association is established in recognition of the broadly-based nature of oncology in the United Kingdom to provide a milieu for the presentation and discussion of the results of clinical and non clinical research. The association will consider problems of general relevance to oncology and, where possible, assist in their resolution. In furtherance of the above objectives the association shall:
| (a) | Promote research in oncology |
| (b) | Organise scientific meetings |
| (c) | If called upon, be prepared to give advice to other bodies on problems relating to oncology. |
